Up in Loreto..super nice

I

I rode yesterday from LaPaz to Loreto, about 200 miles. The road going thru the mountains south of Loreto were spectacular. Much like the the Swiss Alps or the Andes of Peru. I did try to take a video on the bike as I was moving, but it did not work out. Very nerve-raking holding the camera with the left hand and driving 50 mph with the right thru the twisting roadway!!!

The sunset skies here are quite nice. many Americans and Canadiens have chosen this City. Of the coast is a national Park, world renoun for its beauty.

I meet two interesting ladies at the restaurant last nice. Full time residents having so much fun. One of them lives 165 miles to the northwest on the Pacific Side with her hubby. She told me all about their life there and even invited me to visit. I am hopeing to get an email from her momentarily telling me the directions!

Passed the Tropic of Cancer... In LaPaz

This was the song I was listening to as I was leaving Cabo:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_Kktmzk8us

As you can see, there is a modest sign marking the Tropic of Cancer. It is a pain to stop, turn around, park, get off, take pictures and re-start. But how often do we pass this line?

I had lunch on the coast at a very nice camper/travel trailer park. They were all very American and Canadian. If you look closely, you can see the cute little chuhauwa dog. Its' name is "doce" or 2. She is 4 months old and followed me everywhere. I was thinking of bringing her back for my Uncle George in Tucson.

The truck picture is a PreRunner Race Truck with a LS-1 corvette motor. Very cool...about $150k. I would love to have my Class 10 offroad racecar down here!!!

There happens to be some beautiful ironwork in LaPaz. This one was super unique and very well made. As I was taking pictures for my portfolio, the Owner (from Austria) came outside to talk with me about it.

Accosted Last Night

I always brag about how safe it is here. Unfortunatly last night, on the way home from the State Game, I was walking past the Italian Restaurant and was accosted by this wild mexican woman and her sidekick. As you can see, she was disguised as a cross between a pumpkin and Dianna Ross. If you look closely, you can see that she is packing heat. I would guess at least 45 caliber. She insisted on taking some pictures at the Italian Restaurant. I did manage to escape with minor injuries. As I had been drinking and it was late at night, I decided not to report the incident to the Police. I just again want to warn everyone of the serious dangers of traveling outside the country.

GO STATE..Off I go

I watched the GAME down at the sports bar in the Marina with some really sweet people. Kim from Oregon and Jim from Calgary to the left.
The sports bar guy was an electronic master of video. The couple below is living in the USA, but are moving back to Madras India to live.

Was that a good football game or what?

I am packing up and getting back on the road today. Up to Lapaz and maybee check out Lorenzo to see if the Italians made it up there yet. They were taking 3 days to fish, scuba, and explore the National Parks along that coast.

I noticed that the Dow is up 2% this morning. Of course it is severly undervalued (as far as P/E is concerned) and it is disjusting that is has become a Las Vegas style crapshoot. Nature would say that that affect will eventually be minimized.....

I did meet a very nice woman from San Diego who was with her 14 year old daughter and son, about 16. The son had autism, but I spent a nice bit of time talking with him. He is a genius on football and baseball. Hopefully he will adopt a winter sport like hockey or basketball. I told him that if he studied hard and was a good guy I would take him to the Padres home opener this spring

So, off I go into the wildl blue yonder. Fighting and battleing all the roveing hordes of rampaging drug dealers down here. I have been well trained in Detroit!

Monday morning

I slept quite well last night. Dropped off my laundry at the Laundria and went to Cortez de Mar for breakfast and to do my emails.

Oh, I did see this guy along the road, clearly on his way to the fix-it shop!!

GO STATE....the GAME starts at 11:00am here. I plan to find the best Sports Bar in Cabo to watch it.

Sunday..A nice day

I had a different kind of day today.

Oh, the telephone pole picture... Last night, after coming home from CaboWabo's, the front door to the Hotel was locked. Do you really think such a technical detail would deter me? I found the best way into the Hotel...climbing the electrical pole and jumping onto the terace area. You should have seen the faces of the people celebrating up there last night when I jumped out of the sky!. They insisted I was "a wizard" and made me have a few cold ones with them. The picture is a staged re-creation taken by the hotel guy this morning! Oh, by the way, Sammy Hager was playing there.

I rode the bike up to Todos Santos today to check it out. They are doing much construction on the roadway and it was a miserable ride. And the town was not much. So, I had some lunch and played some pool. Then had to ride the 25 miles of dirt back to Cabo.

I had dinner at the Oyster Bar at the Marina, established 1673. The food was quite fresh.

I also had some time to go back and add a few pictures to previous postings.

Happy New Year

I

I am at the moment at the Hotel Cortez Del Mar, having breakfast with Maria, from Utah. She works for the US Ski Team and is very involved with training/recruiting for the Team. She is down here with her friend Griff, who lives here on a ranch down on the coast. Griff took the picture, so you know that I was not edgeing in on his girl!!!

After leaving the Westin yesterday, I went back to my Hotel, showered, and went to the Marina. Claudia's new boat was mored on dock "B" and they were serving some food and drink. Amazing. A wonderful group of people from Mexico, Cuba, Korea...that I can remember. And of course the wonderful little Pug Puppy "Maggie" was also there. Christina was nice enough to let me snuggle with Maggie untill midnight in New York. Thats the New Year we celebrated.
